What is warehouse management System?

A warehouse management system is a set of policies and processes designed to organize the work of a warehouse or distribution center so that such facilities can operate officially and achieve their goals.

WMS plays an important role in supply chain management by managing the order processing process from receiving raw materials to shipping finished products. For example, improper receipt of raw materials or misplaced parts in the warehouse can slow down or disrupt the supply chain. WMS is essential to the smooth running of these processes by tracking inventory and ensuring that goods are properly stored and sorted, shipped and tracked.

How many types of warehouse management system software?
There are different types and implementation methods of warehouse management software, which usually depend on the size and nature of your organization.

They can be larger ERP systems or stand-alone systems or modules within the supply chain execution suite. The WMS also varies greatly in complexity.

While some small organizations can use a simple set of paper documents and spreadsheet files, most large organizations, from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMBs) to enterprises, use complex WMS software.
